Pointless Questions

If the Al Gore or John Kerry’s daughter(s) hung out with Heidi from The Hills, how do you think your liberal media would have covered it? Do you think they would have spent more time on it that they did Hillary’s new hairdo?

Look. I really don’t really care if John McCain’s luscious little daughter is friends with Heidi, or even Spencer, and his Creepy Flesh Colored Beard.

It just pisses me off to think about how Your Liberal Media would have fixated on it FOR DAYS if it were the other way around.

11:06 When asked about the independence of Lang’s hand-selected panel, Lang said something along the lines of “WVU is able to police itself.” Uh, excuse me? Isn’t that what this is all about? That WVU retroactively gave the Governor’s daughter a degree when there was no evidence at all that she earned it? When it was pretty clear that she just quit going to class? I can think of no better evidence of the University NOT being able to police itself. That’s what this is all about.

11:23 This meme that somehow, Heather’s work experience counts or should count towards her degree is bullshit of the highest order. There are procedures for substituting relevant work experience for certain coursework, but not for 22 hours (nearly half) of coursework needed to complete the degree. That’s preposterous.

Furthermore. It’s almost always the case that a student has a certain amount of time to complete a program. At the College of Law, it was 6 years — measured from the time a student begins the program. I don’t know what the rules are for the eMBA program — but the suggestion that she could quit going to class halfway through the program, then 10 YEARS LATER say “hey, I’ve been working for Mylan — that counts, right!” makes me want to vomit.

Even I’m amazed with what passes for a controversy these days.

As Red aptly noted, John Edwards recently hired feminist blogger Amanda Marcotte to run his campaign blog. Awesome, I thought. Amanda might be the best liberal writer on the internet, particularly when it comes to things like a woman’s right to not be a baby incubator, and keeping Christo-fascists out of our private lives in general. ‘Manda is swell.

Well, leave it to right-wing bloggers, et al. to throw a tantrum over nothing at all, and leave it to Your Liberal Media to let on like the whole world actually gives a shit.

Online Shit-Stirrer-in-Chief happened to be Michelle Malkin — Oberlin grad and author of — and I’m not making this up — In Defense of Internment, the very definition of irony, since she herself is the daughter of Filipino immigrants.

Malkin was even once de-blogrolled by Don Surber, if that gives you an idea of her tendency towards utter looniness.

And leave it to Your Liberal Media to use this non-event as an excuse to continue to give voice to uber-hack William Donohue — noted gay basher, Jew hater, and President of the (so-called) Catholic League. William Donohue, from whom my favorite quote might be that the Church’s sexual abuse scandal was a “homosexual scandal, not a pedophilia scandal.”

Yet they parade this bigot around like he’s some sort of voice of reason, if not the very voice of the American Catholic. Never mind the fact that (despite its name) the Catholic League is an extreme right wing political organization known mainly for using the guise of bigotry to promote its own. Its membership represents a whopping total of 0.5% of America’s Catholics. Yawn.

But whatever. Your Liberal Media keeps this fascist clown on speed dial.

We’ve yet to see what the Edwards camp will do. I hope they realize though, that if they cave to the wishes of these guys, it’s unlikely that they’ll stop until Edwards turns his campaign blog into what amounts to William Donohue’s own MySpace page.
