The GOP is portraying itself as the party of gender bias, disrespect of authority and order, mean-spirited bad losers, and fostering their own self-interest over that of their uninsured and possibly dying constituents.
Mine, too. I can understand the fear of big government getting bigger. But the problem grew out of 8 years of Bush, dumped on whoever was the next president. It’s not like HCR was an ambush – it was a campaign promise, and just about anything would be an improvement for starters.
I thought Dingell did well, and am pleased to have learned about his history with HCR.
It did look like the boys didn’t want the girls to speak. Reminds me of elementary school. Wonder if they’ll pull pony tails next. Not a proud day for the GOP.
This country is in the shape it is in today due in large part to the 8 years of Republican governance. How anyone can trust Republicans is beyond comprehension…That said, there was one Republican with courage tonight in voting to pass the House Health Care bill.
who was the republican who voted for it?……..i am ashamed to be a registered republican…..how does one “change” their party affiliation?…..i want to start my own party,it will be a party that is nebulous and will view each issue independantly…….these people are foolish
We’re no better here with our Legislature. What a pack of ninnies is also true in WV. Totally spineless. No political will to improve education, health, economic development including protecting our greatest natural assets, water and mountain splendor. And I’m an optimist.
I disagree with the Republican stand on this issue, but that’s OK, everyone has a right to their opinion, no matter how stupid. What’s just morally wrong is for these supposed adults to stand there and set such a bad example of decorum. One of the things we try to teach our kids is to wait their turn and not interrupt. I wonder how that shit would have been handled in the Senate?
The one Republican was “Rep. Joseph Cao, a first-term Republican who holds an overwhelmingly Democratic seat in New Orleans.” I suggest you write a nice letter thanking him.
You may be interested in this list: Democrats Who Voted Yes on Stupak and No on #HCR Of course, no West Virginians on it, but these are the Dems who were really trying to kill this bill one way or another.
The Republicans are thuggish debate nerds, and the Dems are a lot of hen-hearted numbskulls.
Ah well, long ago I realized that the American polity was divided into two tribes: The well-intentioned-but-stupid tribe, and the clever-but-evil tribe. I chose the stupid tribe, mostly because I felt more at home there (ha!) There has been little to change my opinion of the tribes for many, many years.
Tea baggers will be the death of honest and meaningful debate, democrats on the other hand may want to learn the social control mechanism called waterboarding.
It has to be in the water, this jazzed out flattulance passing itself off as statesman ship, but don’t worry, we the people are too busy working two jobs, trying to find a third and – oh yeah the government is out of touch with the working people…
I must disagree, Advocatus. Over the last ten years, the GOP has often been tactically skilled, but rarely smart and almost never wise. You can’t call a party that goes from being lead by Shrub to being lead by Sarah Palin smart, in spite of Karl Rove’s cunning.
By comparison the Democrats have been geniuses on policy (must be why I feel at home there), if occasionally gutless. And went from a president who was a Rhodes Scholar to a president who was the editor of the Harvard Law Review. No C grade biz school grads there.
wvuhscex, teabaggers is a funny name for the tea party protest crowd from this summer. Its funny because teabagging is also a slang term for getting hit in the face with testicles, either from fellatio or passing out with your shoes on.
My nephews work for a parasail operation in Maryland. Two summers ago they took my wife and I parasailing. At one point they backed off the throttle and my wife floated down until her feel actually touched the water before they lifted her back up.
After she got back in the boat, not having a clue what it meant, she said “Thanks for teabagging me boys”. My nephews burst out laughing and left it to me to explain what it means….

I was ready to send the soccer player from New Mexico to Congress to do some hair pulling, but I realized that not all that many members have hair.

Good idea, TT!

Some, not most, of my best friends are Republicans. I cannot imagine they think this is good representation of their viewpoints.

At least the young woman soccer player from New Mexico was suspended for nasty stuff. Who will discipline the bad boys in Congress?

What a pack of ninnies. In charge of our future. I don’t know whether to puke, cry or emigrate.

But at least they are generally polite ninnies.

I will definitely write Representative Cao a note. You are absolutely correct in suggesting that, WV State.

Advocatus, you are right about the tribal division. I’m considering switching.
