It’s Magrath.
Not McGrath, Macgrath, or McGraw.
Magrath.
And it’s pronounced Muh-graw. Yes, like that bunch of Muh-graws.
Virtually every print, television or radio story broadcast or published in the past week has explicitly pointed this out. Pay attention.
July 12, 2008 at 5:05 pm
Yeah, except for the Dominion Post which had “McGrath” in the headline and the story.
The editor, Gail, responded to my email by passing the buck to the proofreader…said she’d talk with her when she came in for her shift.
He’s the university president. In Morgantown.
July 12, 2008 at 5:06 pm
Yet another reason why no one reads the Dominion Post.
July 12, 2008 at 5:14 pm
ok dad, I think I got it now
July 12, 2008 at 5:41 pm
glad we got that straight.
July 12, 2008 at 6:19 pm
Okay, if we’re having a spelling bee…take a look at your categories. It should be douche bags :-)
July 12, 2008 at 6:33 pm
People have a tendency to not take your opinions seriously if you don’t actually know the interim president’s name. Really, it’s the least we can do.
I’m just sayin’.
July 12, 2008 at 6:42 pm
As an adult, I am no longer able to blush, but today I might have. But you can beat me up, I have strong shoulders.
July 12, 2008 at 7:16 pm
People have a tendency to not take your opinions seriously if you don’t actually pronounce the interim president’s name the way its spelled. Really, it’s the least we can do.
My last name is Smith but it’s pronounced SMAW.
July 12, 2008 at 7:39 pm
good pronunciation is important but at the same time, it is obviously a common error. easy to do w/ Irish.
July 12, 2008 at 7:49 pm
I am sure this is way too much information, but my second most embarrassing moment was when I was in a spelling bee as a child and I had to pee and I was too shy to just leave the room, so I had an accident right up there in front of everyone.
Excuse me, I have to go pee now.
July 12, 2008 at 9:48 pm
“Whatever it is out there, it killed Hopper. And now it wants us.”
July 12, 2008 at 10:23 pm
Bot: Is that from “Alien”?
July 13, 2008 at 12:23 am
We need to take up a collection to bribe Looselips to divulge his/her “first” most embarrassing moment. It’s got to be interesting given what the first runner up was…
AYE. Just re-read the comments. Are you saying the misspelling of MUH-GRAW is your most embarrassing? Pish. The pee story trumps it.
July 13, 2008 at 12:33 am
GET TO DAH CHOPPPPAAAAHHH!!!
July 13, 2008 at 1:57 am
Predator:
Who in their wildest dreams wouldathunk two governors would come out of that movie?
I figure Carl Weathers is next…he’s even lobbying for it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QArocEUp7xE
Okay. They stretched the bit about a minute too far, and Weathers apparently can’t act any more, but funny all the same.
July 13, 2008 at 4:00 am
I ain’t got time to bleed.
July 13, 2008 at 6:42 am
it tastes so good once it hits your lips
July 13, 2008 at 7:56 am
Good morning, You see I had to change my name because I lost one yesterday.
July 13, 2008 at 8:33 am
point of interest. the gov is on c-span.
July 13, 2008 at 8:47 am
he stated he had very little control over education in WV.
July 13, 2008 at 8:59 am
you could call in during the open phone session and refute that
July 13, 2008 at 9:00 am
“mteerfish says: he stated he had very little control over education in WV.”
Uh-oh…Does that translate as “I wanted a crony like Mattern as state superintendent?”
July 13, 2008 at 9:49 am
or Long in control of the agenda at BOG
July 13, 2008 at 10:32 am
That’s the problem. Joe Manchin wants to control everything.
July 13, 2008 at 10:52 am
Thanks, Marion County! For giving us Joe Manchin.
July 13, 2008 at 11:27 am
HK: We need to start an anti-Manchin email campaign. With your writing skills you should compose it. Something we can “copy and paste”, explaining why people should not vote for MoJo. It should be short, concise, and asking everyone to forward it to everyone in their address book. People who don’t read the blogs use email. We can saturate the entire state for the next 3 months.

wvuhscex: Morale is very bad. An entire clinical section is considering making demands or walking. Since the news of Bailes salary and now the incoming Chair of Anesthesiology’s salary, the outrage is palpable.
July 13, 2008 at 12:28 pm
Looselip: They seem to have lots of money to get the people like Macia, Case, and Walker to stay around (hopefully for not much longer). Time to pony up for the people who do POSITIVE things. Has anyone else wondered why the news services just moves people around, promoting some, but STILL needs another new director. Asst VP Chris Martin gets everything she wants, but there are literally hundreds of faculty/clinical positions that need filled. With the present mind set it is all PR and marketing (just witness the new HSC ads).
July 13, 2008 at 12:50 pm
LLip: What happened to your lip? Upper or lower?
July 13, 2008 at 12:55 pm
HORSE, no kidding…………..its easier to pay the bad eggs, than it is to build something reputable………..”the WVU way”………thanks for the update LOOSELIP, you could probably date that message…..1984,1994,2004,2008….the place has NEVER changed
July 13, 2008 at 1:06 pm
Wvuhscex: I think it has to change now. Has it ever been in such a precarious position?
Steph: I got beat up yesterday. Didn’t you read about it?
July 13, 2008 at 1:51 pm
looselip, you are exactly correct.in thos past years there were always SOME decent folks at the top………….but now there are NONE,and the finances are worse…you need some astute academician/clinicians,who love the research world and apreciate all that academia has to offer……..NOW is a “moment” that the HSC can shine and do the right thing…..almost like when “they” decided to recruit a bunch of talent from Minnesota…………worked out awesome, even thought they werent west virginians!……..
July 13, 2008 at 2:12 pm
I go back long before ‘84 and believe me, the place has changed.
July 13, 2008 at 7:14 pm
Speaking of Mojo…have you heard the one about the $2M grayhound training kennel for Earl Ray’s daddy……….which really only costs $300K to build….and the WV Kennel association voted on that they don’t even need….but Earl RAy’s Daddy is gettin’ one as of this last special legislative session….just thought you’d like to know. Disgusting isn’t it!!!!
