This Has Been Another Edition of DON SURBER IS A FUCKING IDIOT

This is what gamers refer to as UB3R PWNAGE.

I find the whole blogs v. newspapers thing to be very overblown.

But let’s review.

As you recall, I once made a post where I was flat-out wrong. By the time I woke up the next morning, there were a dozen comments telling me so. And by noon, I had posted a correction and admitted my mistake. Hippie Killer made a doody. I’m not proud, but happens.

Now. Don Surber, professional newspaper columnist, writes a piece about how Canada’s violent crime rate is double United States’, and said piece is published in the second largest newspaper in the state. Within minutes, however, it becomes crystal that Surber’s entire column isn’t just bullshit, it’s flat out wrong.

And if that’s not enough, if you read the comments on Surb’s blog, you can see that he doesn’t even understand how or why he’s wrong (and that’s just in the comments Don lets through). A professional writer who is utterly incapable of comprehending a simple statistical chart. Jesus fucking Christ. I’ve said it before: if Don Surber worked at say, the Stamping Plant instead of an air conditioned office, and was this bad at his job, he’d lose his hand in a piece of machinery. But at least he’d be on disability.

This begs a question: IS THE DAILY MAIL EVEN FUCKING EDITED?

If Surber ran a column entitled “Nancy Pelosi is a Child Molesting Transexual Who Who Gives Money and Head to Bin Laden,” would they bother fact checking that?

Probably not.

And you know, there are plenty of people who work for the Daily Mail who are actual journalists, and care about being factually correct. Or at least not 100% wrong. Crap like this makes the people who actually do their jobs look bad.

I won’t be holding my breath for a correction. And why should I, when Don is too dense to realize he’s even wrong. Keep reachin’ for that Pulitzer, Daily Mail!!!

Not only were Iraqi fingerprints all over the 1993 WTC bombing, but there is a decent circumstantial case for Iraqi responsibility/participation in the Murrah Building bombing in Oklahoma City.

found under post “Clinton lied, people died.

Here’s my thoughts on this under “Very Serious Things”:

feel free to delete this comment if think it is going to far, but it is how I see it.

I think Jesco hit the nail on the head in his blog when he said that Suber has staked out territory and caters to the idiots that live there. In an comment a long time ago, Hippie Killer said that the Daily Mail paid Surber to say provocative (read stupid) things to drive traffic to them. I think it’s safe to say that Surber lives up to the terms of his contract.

Apparently when hate is the SOP then the dialogue of sustained outrage seems to be acceptable.

However that “sustained outrage” is the fire that burns in the fevered minds of the fruitcake right.

Facts have nothing to do with anything they say.

Just throw something out there and see if it resonates with the flat-earthers.

    It always works.

Regardless, I’m going to go drink some cool, refreshing water. “Shore hope hit ain’t flooro…..flowur….flureeda…..oh, damn hit, y’all no whut eye meen.”

Vote Repub and go to heaven.

  5. Jesco Pernicus Says:

Your right, Fascismisdead - Surber did make fun of fluoridated water!!

Who the hell would even THINK of doing that?

BTW, Johanna Maurice’s father won a Pulitzer at the Daily Mail back in the day. But no, Hippiekiller, not much chance of that these days.

Although, I wouldn’t mind seeing Surber take one of Roxanne’s horns.

  6. Lawbot Says:

I thought the DM was in trouble bc of all that stuff in the federal lawsuit. Now you’re telling me it’s likely actually bc it allows complete crap to get printed?

  7. Jesco Pernicus Says:

    Lawbot,

The defendant in the suit is CN, Betty Chilton essentially, and the goal of the suit would be to save the DM. Is DM management co-operating? I suppose that they could claim a ‘Good-Faith Incompetence’ defense but the fact that the same people are doing it would seem to work against them. What was the circumstances surrounding Professional Agro Radmacher’s exit? Are the same standards being applied?
As far as Surber, it’s obvious he worships Instapundit and I don’t think it would be a stretch to conclude from his blog that he wants very badly to be a professional blogger. What’s he done to achieve that? Why does he use a Yahoo e-mail for his blog when he’s paid to blog under the masthead and has a DM e-mail account?
We and our government agencies are required by law to pay CN money to advertise legal notices and that raises the bar of responsibility. It annoys me greatly that when somebody points out their plastic haughtiness their attitude is a groaning ‘C’mon!’, as if we’ve pulled up the curtain on kid’s puppet show. Words matter, ideas matter and the young Marine father is not part of a kid’s puppet show.

Is anyone annoyed with the DominionPost’s lovefest for Hardesty in today’s edition?

Nobody mentions the faculty that left the institution due to his lack of leadership when it came to treating employees well (i.e. giving them a salary that approaches 80% of the national average for people in their position).

Will WVU ever learn or continue to flatter the unworthy?

  9. Lawbot Says:

Oh, I know. I was trying to be funny, which is definitely NOT something I should do before 9 a.m. on a Sunday.

  10. Jesco Pernicus Says:

    Lawbot,
And I’ve been watching God’s Warriors and getting too pissed off.

You might want to check out Surber’s column today. He posted a correction and admitted his mistake. Maybe he wants to be like HK after all. Also, this just in: Hell Freezes Over!

  13. Raging Red Says:

Well, he admitted his mistake, but then went on to claim that despite the fact that the entire basis of his argument was totally wrong, he’s still right.

  14. bingmanch Says:

Heheh. There was also an interesting Letter to the Editor today also.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I wonder who that could have been?
